With Resist Your Soul’s Urge For Freedom, the inaugural EP from independent imprint Galactic Impact Records, Adelaide trio Elizabeth Prophet skips the introductory pleasantries and plunges straight into the deep end of avant-garde minimalism.
Recorded live with no safety nets, the three-piece—Max McKinnon, Jed Palmer, and Paul Sloan—delivers a masterclass in sonic tension. The EP functions less like a collection of songs and more like an unfolding psychological thriller. The music moves in waves, beginning with sparse, skeletal arrangements that slowly gather mass, weight, and friction until they mutate into a wall of beautiful, towering noise.
Palmer’s mastery of tone provides the record's emotional spine, conjuring expansive, desolate soundscapes that evoke the lonely expanses of the Australian outback at dusk.
